Okay I admit it...I probably only re-started this blog so that I can write about American Idol.
Tonight the contestants sang Motown and their mentor was Smokey Robinson. They traveled this week to Detroit and Hitsville, USA. I love Motown music!
Here is my take on tonights show. Before I give my opinion on each individual contestant I have to just say kudos to all of them because none of them sucked and I really enjoyed the entire show!
1. Matt: Let's Get it On. What a hunk. Excellent piano player. I love how he got up from the piano. He is better than Justin Timberlake by a mile. Voting for him!
2. Kris: How Sweet It Is. How sweet he is! I love how he started the song slow, and I liked his version of the song. I didn't like his shirt...what was that anyway? A prison guard uniform? I don't believe he needs to be conceited to be a star. Voting for him!
3. Scott: You Can't Hurry Love. Before I diss the blind guy let me just say that I appreciate the challenges he faces with performing on such a popular show while blind, and he is showing more confidence as the weeks go on. But I'm not a fan and he's not as good as the others. I agree with Simon that this was the wrong song for him.
4. Megan Joy: For Once in My Life. What's with dropping the last name? Does she think that ensures stardom or something? She has a very strange flat voice and she is awkward on stage...she tried to stop the swishing wierd dance but she still looks clutzy on stage. I hated her version of the song and I don't get why she's still there.
5. Anoop: Ooh Baby Baby. I finally figured out what I don't like about Anoop. He has a really flat expression on his face. His eyes are "dead." Even when he smiles (which is rare) his eyes never sparkle. The eyes don't match the smile or the voice. He strikes me as a psychopath or something...He has a nice voice but I'm just not getting it. For those who think I'm profiling him racially or something that has nothing to do with it...look at his eyes and you'll know what I mean.
6. Michael: Ain't too Proud to Beg. He's a nice guy but I've never been a fan. He's got a nice voice but there is nothing special about him...he doesn't measure up to the competition.
7. Lil: Heatwave. I might as well copy and paste Michaels description here. She's pretty and has a nice voice but she doesn't stand out. Didn't care for her tonight, she was shouting and over singing the song.
8. Adam: Tracks of My Tears. I've been saying from the beginning that Adam needs to just get up on stage and sing a song without all the theatrics...and he did! I almost didn't recognize him tonight but those vocals were awesome! This is one of my favorite songs and I loved his version of it. I love the lyrics. I'm voting for him!
9. Danny: Get Ready. A cool song and I love Danny. This wasn't his best but it was better than last week. I loved how he joined the back up singers. He's a performer and I love his voice. I'm voting for him!
10. Allison: Papa Was a Rolling Stone. I really like Allison and I can't believe she's only 16. She is a polished vocalist and performer. I loved her version of the song and she really rocked it. I wish she'd get rid of the bright red hair though! I'm voting for her!
I think the top two tonight were Adam and Allison. I think that Michael or Megan will be going home.
I'm picking Matt, Kris, Adam , or Allison as the winner. I'm dropping Danny from my picks. He needs to step up his game now.
A time for change….
