Here is more information from the class I took (community Ed-Janice Novak)...
There are foods that make your body want to burn fat instead of store it.
PPAR's(Peroxisome Proliferator Activator Receptors)
-Decrease insulin and glucose levels
-Decrease cholesterol and inflammation
-need to be activated by foods in order to work
--PPAR activating foods: whole grain carbs, fiber, nuts, healthy monounsaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, lean poultry, and fish.
NF-Kappa B's (nuclear factor Kappa B)
-Released by liver when certain foods are eaten
-trigger a chain of events that cause inflammation and prevents transport of glucose to your cells, thus triggering hunger
--Foods that increase levels of NF-Kappa B: simple sugars, high-fructose corn syrup, saturated fat, trans fat, refined grains.
Next topic will be controlling your appetite without willpower!
